Academic Learning Center (ALC)

The Academic Learning Center's role is to support students with all aspects of their learning needs. It is located in room 2.107 (ground floor of block 2).

When Can Students Visit the ALC?

Each week the ALC is open for students to seek advice from an experienced ALC instructor. There are drop-in sessions and individual tutorials where students can talk to a tutor about their development as a learner, a particular problem they are facing, or an assessment they are working on.

Other Activities in the ALC

  • regular workshops on topics relevant to student needs,
  • a short story club in which students read and discuss notable works of literature with an instructor,
  • discussion groups in which students can practice their spoken English and debating skills
  • an ALC newspaper which encourages creative writing

Guided Readers

The ALC also lends out guided readers to students who wish to improve their reading speed and vocabulary.

Notices from the ALC

Students are regularly informed about all ALC activities via email.

All students are encouraged to make use of these services.
